Fill out the form to get started
Five years ago, Clint Langer walked through the doors of CrossFit Durst feeling like a version of himself he no longer recognized.
After growing up playing hockey and serving six years in the military, fitness had always been part of his life. But after taking a few years away from training, he found himself feeling something he hadn’t felt before.
“I didn’t feel very fit anymore. I just wasn’t feeling good on the inside or outside.”
Like so many people, Clint didn’t need another quick fix. He needed a place to start again.
A Google search led him to CrossFit Durst.
What he found was so much more than a workout.
Stronger Than He Ever Expected
If you ask Clint about his accomplishments, he’ll rattle off some impressive numbers.
A 400-pound deadlift.
A 300-pound back squat.
More than 10 unbroken toes-to-bar.
RX’ing most workouts.
But the part that makes those achievements even more remarkable?
He accomplished them all in his 50s.
“That’s pretty cool knowing what I can do.”
Those numbers tell part of the story. The bigger story is discovering that your best years don’t have to be behind you.
They’re proof that strength doesn’t have an expiration date.
Finding More Than Fitness
Long before Clint became a member, he’d watched CrossFit on TV.
What stood out wasn’t just the incredible athletes.
It was how they treated each other.
“The first time I saw CrossFit on TV and how great all the athletes were to each other, I thought it was amazing.”
When he finally decided to try it, he worried it wouldn’t live up to what he’d seen.
“It was exactly what I hoped. Friendly, great workouts and sometimes a little friendly competition between friends.”
That sense of community quickly became one of the reasons he kept showing up.
“The coaching is friendly, knowledgeable and fun all in one. I love the community. So many great people become gym buddies… and sometimes the odd beer after the gym.”
But perhaps the moment that says the most about our community is something much simpler.
“When you miss a workout, you know you’re missed because one or more people ask, ‘Where have you been?'”
Sometimes belonging isn’t about the workout.
It’s about knowing people notice when you’re not there.
Trust the Process
If Clint could go back and give himself advice on day one, it wouldn’t be complicated.
“Don’t go heavy.”
He laughs about it now, but there’s wisdom behind those words.
“Listen to the coaches that say go light and work up to the bigger weights. Too heavy too soon only sets you back.”
It’s a reminder that progress isn’t built by proving something on day one.
It’s built by showing up, listening, learning, and trusting the process.
For Anyone Standing on the Outside
Starting something new is intimidating.
Clint knows that feeling.
His advice to anyone thinking about CrossFit?
“No need to be nervous. Scale to what you need with the help of the coaches, and soon enough you’ll start to rock all the workouts that fit you.”
You don’t have to be fit before you start.
You don’t have to know what you’re doing.
You just have to walk through the door.
More Than a Gym Membership
When people ask whether CrossFit is worth the investment, Clint doesn’t hesitate.
“The coaches are worth it.”
“You don’t have to worry about planning a workout, figuring out stretches or warm-ups. It’s all planned for you, and you’re coached so you get it done right.”
What you’re investing in isn’t just equipment.
It’s guidance.
It’s accountability.
It’s learning to move well.
It’s a room full of people who genuinely want to see you succeed.
It’s Never Too Late
Today, Clint is stronger, healthier, and more confident than he was when he first walked into CrossFit Durst.
“I feel better, more confident in how I look and in my workouts. The things I’ve learned how to do in my 50s… I think that’s pretty cool.”
His story isn’t really about lifting 400 pounds.
It’s about proving to yourself that growth doesn’t stop because you hit a certain birthday.
That confidence can be rebuilt.
That friendships can be found.
That your strongest chapter might still be waiting for you.
And sometimes, all it takes is walking through one door.
