Why CrossFit Durst Proudly Partners with the Rotary Brantford Classic Run Every Year

If you’ve been around CrossFit Durst over the past few years, you’ve probably noticed one event that always gets our team excited: the Brantford Rotary Classic Run.

For the past three years, we’ve had the privilege of partnering with this incredible community event, and every year we’re reminded why we keep coming back.

For us, this isn’t just another race.

It’s a celebration of movement, community, generosity, and everything we believe fitness should be about.

More Than a Race

At CrossFit Durst, our mission has never been simply helping people lift heavier barbells or finish workouts faster.

Our mission is helping people build healthier, stronger lives that allow them to participate in moments exactly like this.

Whether someone is walking their very first 5K, pushing a stroller, chasing a personal best in the 10K, or cheering from the sidelines, the Brantford Rotary Classic Run brings people of every age and fitness level together.

That is something worth celebrating.

Three Years of Free Community Run Club

One of our favourite parts of this partnership has been hosting our free Community Run Club leading up to race day.

Every Monday evening, runners of all abilities meet at CrossFit Durst to train together. Some participants have never run farther than around the block. Others are experienced runners looking to improve their pacing or simply enjoy running with friends.

Our goal has never been to create elite runners.

Our goal is to help people feel confident crossing the finish line.

Throughout the weeks leading up to the race, we focus on:

  • Building endurance safely
  • Learning proper pacing
  • Improving running efficiency
  • Preventing common running injuries
  • Supporting beginners
  • Creating accountability through community

The best part isn’t watching someone shave minutes off their race time.

It’s watching someone who once believed they “weren’t a runner” proudly wear their race medal after accomplishing something they never thought possible.

Race Day Is About Community

Race morning is one of our favourite days of the year.

Long before the starting horn sounds, you’ll find our coaches and volunteers smiling, cheering, high-fiving participants, and soaking up the incredible energy that fills the city.

This year, Coach Jacqui and Coach Kirsten once again had the honour of leading the official pre-race warm-up. Helping hundreds of runners prepare to take on their race is something we never take for granted.

Another highlight was hosting our interactive Kids Booth, where young athletes could jump, move, play, and discover that fitness can be fun. Watching children complete challenges with huge smiles on their faces reminds us why encouraging healthy habits early is so important.

Seeing families stretching together, kids laughing, experienced runners encouraging first-timers, and everyone counting down to the start perfectly represents what our community is all about.

Why We Believe in the Brantford Rotary Classic Run

The Brantford Rotary Club does an incredible job organizing this event.

While race day is full of excitement, there’s something even more meaningful happening behind the scenes.

Every registration helps raise funds that are invested right back into our local community.

That’s what makes this event so special.

You’re not only investing in your own health.

You’re investing in Brantford.

Community organizations, youth programs, local initiatives, and charities all benefit because thousands of people choose to come together for one incredible morning. As a local business, that’s something we’re proud to support.

Fitness Builds Strong Communities

One of the biggest misconceptions about fitness is that it’s an individual pursuit.

In reality, we’ve seen the opposite.

When people become healthier, stronger, and more confident, they begin contributing more to the people around them.

They volunteer.

They encourage others.

They become role models for their children.

They support local events.

They build stronger communities.

Events like the Brantford Rotary Classic Run remind us that fitness is about far more than workouts.

It’s about connection.

Why CrossFit Durst Supports Local Events

As a locally owned gym, we believe our responsibility extends beyond our walls.

Yes, we coach CrossFit classes.

Yes, we help members improve their strength, mobility, endurance, nutrition, and confidence.

But we also believe in showing up for our community.

Whether that’s hosting a free Run Club, supporting local charities, celebrating member achievements, volunteering at community events, or helping people prepare for their first race, we want CrossFit Durst to be known as a place that gives back.

Because Brantford has supported us for many years.

Supporting our community is simply our way of saying thank you.

Thank You to the Rotary Team

A heartfelt thank you to the Brantford Rotary Club for allowing CrossFit Durst to be part of such an incredible event over the past three years.

From trusting us to lead the pre-race warm-up to welcoming us with our interactive Kids Booth and supporting our free Community Run Club leading up to race day, it has truly been an honour.

The Brantford Rotary Classic Run showcases the very best of our city. It brings people together, encourages healthy living, and raises funds that are poured right back into our community. The amount of work that goes into organizing an event of this size is tremendous, and we’re grateful to play even a small role in its success.

Congratulations to every runner, walker, volunteer, sponsor, spectator, Rotary member, and family who made this year’s event another memorable one.

Keep Running With Us

Just because race day is over doesn’t mean the running has to stop.

Our free Community Run Club continues every Monday at 5:30 PM, and everyone is welcome—whether you’re training for your next race, preparing for your very first 5K, or simply looking for a supportive group to stay active with.

There is no membership required and no expectation that you have to be an experienced runner. Just show up, meet some amazing people, and enjoy moving together.

We hope to see many familiar faces throughout the year, and when next year’s Brantford Rotary Classic Run rolls around, we’d love the opportunity to help you prepare for the starting line once again.

To the entire Rotary team—thank you for letting us be part of such a meaningful community tradition. We already can’t wait to be back next year.

Until then, we’ll keep helping people become stronger, healthier, and more confident—one workout, one run, and one community event at a time.

Because that’s what CrossFit Durst is all about.
