small group calls doing a high 5 after class at CrossFit Durst in Brantford

Why CrossFit Durst Dosen’t Compete with Orangetheory or F45.

In the bustling world of fitness, group exercise has become the norm. High-intensity workouts paired with a balanced diet are widely acknowledged for their effectiveness. New gym franchises have seized this opportunity, offering promotional rates, upscale facilities, and a plethora of class options.

These franchises boast substantial marketing budgets, strong brand presence, and large classes with minimal overhead costs.

So, why don’t we at CrossFit Durst feel threatened?

Because we provide individualized coaching and real, measurable results—not just group workouts.

YOU Are NOT a Commodity

Franchises like Orangetheory, FitBody Boot Camp, F45, and Jazzercise operate on a common model: low-paid group leaders (not true coaches) guiding choreographed routines to music. They don’t need to understand each member’s fitness history, personal circumstances, or goals. Their focus is primarily on maintaining membership dues.

At CrossFit Durst, we design workouts and nutrition plans tailored to each individual’s unique needs. Our approach addresses your specific circumstances.

While we’d love to offer one-on-one workouts and daily nutrition guidance, we understand time and budget constraints. That’s why we group individuals with similar goals, providing personalized guidance in a more cost-effective manner. Either in our Small Group Training or Semi-Private Sessions.

Although our members train together, each person’s wellness plan is individualized. This is why we include one-on-one goal-review sessions every three months as part of the membership. Your goals and strategies evolve, and so should your plan to achieve them.

Fitness Isn’t Just About Sweating

If achieving fitness were as simple as working out a few times a week and eating right, we’d all resemble Hollywood stars. The reality is that most people know what to do but struggle with accountability.

We don’t sell choreographed sweat sessions; we deliver results. Results hinge on two factors: knowledge and action.

Knowledge is abundant—there are countless workouts and diet plans available online for free. But action is another story. Our instincts are to conserve energy, making it challenging to stay motivated.

Many of us aspire to more than just surviving. We want to achieve goals that will enhance our future selves, which requires taking action, even when it’s hard.

This is where caring, knowledgeable coaches come in. We remind you of your goals, keep you on track during tough times, and hold you accountable.

The Relationship Business, Not the Fitness Business

Creating an individualized plan, helping you implement it, and holding you accountable revolves around one key element: a trusting relationship. We’re here to support you on tough days, celebrate your successes, and push you to do better when necessary.

We prioritize your best interests, even if it means suggesting a break from the gym. During goal-review sessions, we might recommend more outdoor workouts or personal development activities, even if it costs us money in the short term. This builds trust, ensuring you return when you’re ready.

So, ask yourself: Do you want to just sweat, or do you want a coach?
